also meine frage is ob man irgendwie android auf das samsung jet bekommen kann... meines wissens ist der kompilierte code über 6 gb groß, d.h. er müsste auf die speicherkarte installiert werden. ausserdem kommt es ja auchnoch auf die treiber an.

was meint ihr? ist es möglich oder wird es irgendwann in näherer zeit möglich sein, android auf dem jet zu installieren?

Comment by dopi711, Yesterday (27 hours ago) Yes you are almost right. It means that now the development and testing of the SD-card booting code can start. Before this step it very dangerous to test any additional code. Now the additinal code is only executed if the dial or the keylock button is pressed along with the power-on key at startup. If the keys are not pressed the phone starts the normal way.

So, I beleive it is a major step towards booting from SD-card and a first success for this project.

Comment by aleksey.4erepanov, Today (4 hours ago) As i understood bootloader on the github is not ready for flashing. It is not fully tested and can break phone. Even when it would be completed qi is planned to be embeded into current bootloader to keep an ability to load current os. It will be published as a binary patch for current bootloader soon. And work on kernel will start after this. So if you are interested to try existing kernel images wait for working and tested bootloader.

Please have a little bit more patience ;-) So far the bootloader cannot boot from SD-card (it does only insert a 10 sec. waitloop if the right button is pressed at power-up). The next step is to insert the code for SD-card booting (from SmartQi?) and for initializing the baseband processor (as my analysis of the current bootloader has shown that this is done before the nucleus OS is started). And I also don't have any kernel image. I am not sure if the I5700 image will work as (at least) the display is different. If you like the feature of an additional 10sec waitloop you can flash the current bootloader. It is built against the S8000XPIJ7 FW. If you use this firmware I would not expect any problems testing it. Other firmware may have slight modifications and cause problems and you may even brick your phone. Building the bootloader requires a Linux environment with an ARM cross-compiler. The Android source includes this. See the JetDroidBuildEnvironment for some more information on how to set up the environment.

ich hab von Programmierung absolut keinen Schimmer und weiß deshalb nicht ob es von Interesse ist, daß man das MEIZU M8 (welches den gleichen Prozessor wie das Jet hat) mit Android zum laufen gebracht hat.

ja is echt super aber es kann echt noch lange dauern selbst jetzt wo der bootloader funzt muss der kernel noch angepasst werden.

und wenn das dann fertig ist muss es noch verbessert werden da nicht alle funktionen von android unterstützt werden. aber trozdem geil:blob:
