Hi dj4n90,

Why this? The name should be changed to recover-ics-bootloader only, because that is what this recovery.zip does! The name is disguising, that`s all. You can use it, but not for recovering "recovery", but recovering the ics-bootloader!

1.First: The "recovery.sh" seems to boot temporarily a kernel and recovery, then it flashes the ics-bootloader only! (This applies for Linux User!)

2.Second: You can extract out of the recovery.zip the kernel- and recovery.img (both ICS) and flash them in fastboot-mode. (same with sos.zip possible, also the HC3.2-img`s!) (For Linux and Windows-User)

3.Third for Windows-User: Therefore type at a windows command-prompt following commands, your Tab booted in Android and connected per USB to a Windows-PC, your Medion-ADB drivers installed: (Not for the deodexed rom!)

1. adb devices ------ wait for Serial-number, then

2. adb reboot-bootloader ------ wait for an almost dark screen, not APK but "bootloader"!, then

3. fastboot devices ------ wait for the line: ´?.......fastboot`
If this line does not appear, but instead <waiting for device>, leave the command-prompt-window open, go to device-manager and tab > AndroidPhone > Drivers > Install drivers > Search on this computer for Drivers > Choose from a list of drivers on this Computer > In left little window choose "Medion" > In the right little window "Android Bootloader Interface" > Install, and you have additionally to your previously installed Medion-ADB drivers the fastboot-driver successfully installed. Then repeating in command-window at the prompt, or eventually open a new command prompt:
3: fastboot devices ---- wait for the line: "?.......fastboot" and now:

4: fastboot -i 0x0408 flash recovery recovery.img .... takes 1-2 seconds, or

4a: fastboot -i 0x0408 flash boot boot.img) ... take boot.img from last MD_LIFETAB_P9514.20120719.2-ICS-signed-ota-update.zip

5: fastboot continue .... and your Tab will reboot into Android with the

original recovery (or kernel) replaced!

Follow little Root-Tut with cydia-impactor, it works definitely and precisely on your P9514!

Hi dj4n90,

did you manage to get your tab running smoothly with the sos.zip ?

After deinstalling and derooting deodexed rom and CWM, I fiddled too much with permissions while testing my gps- config´s,

tested in HC 3.2 (worked fine with the original config´s!), in deodexed rom GPS made a lot of problems!, then copied different

drivers and radio from HC to ICS (did not work properly), so flashed with the sos, reflashed ota and rooted with

Cydia-Impactor again, and from then on everything works fine! regards daddle

Hi dj4n90,

I found a minor error in the recovery-ics-bootloader_stock.zip; the included boot.img is outdated, it is from the first or second update release for ICS 4.03. But, to get hasselfree WLan, we need the boot.img from ICS Update Release 3 (Last Version).

The older boot.img caused a faulty WLan, thats why you have to reflash the last Lifetab_p9514.20120719.2-ICS-signed-ota-update.zip to get Wlan working, everytime after making use of the recovery-function, and to root again!

This is not needed anymore, if you correct your download-file with this corrected Version. I replaced the older boot.img with the last one, and no more WLan-error anymore after using the corrected recovery.zip.

Please be so kind and update your download with the corrected version. Download-Link:

Second, may I advise you to remove the older Lifetab_p9514.20120703.8-ICS-signed-ota-update.zip in the Rom_ICS_Ota-section.

These one is not necessary anymore, it is still a bit buggy, and the latest Lifetab_p9514.20120719.2-ICS-signed-ota-update.zip is complete incl. blob, and also allows the update from HC3.2 --> ICS4.03!
